Street Experiments: VR City Planning

VR Research Team Educators in VR

Thommy Eriksson developed CityAirSim, a VR application to teach high school students about the effects city planning has on air pollution through the study of street width and vegetation density, turning virtual street into a laboratory for students to change the city and see the effects on air pollution.

With a PhD in Applied IT, Thommy Eriksson, of CityAirSim, teaches and researches digital media and application in storytelling, teaching, and remote collaboration. His 2016 PhD thesis explored how virtual reality is represented in fiction, primarily science fiction feature films. He continues to research VR for education and for remote collaboration, and is studio director for the Kuggen Studio (student makerspace) and Kuggen Medialab (research lab).

The Educators in VR Research Team features researchers from across the spectrum of VR/AR/XR research and development sharing their knowledge, techniques, and research. Please join our Educators in VR Discord for the VR Research Team Project channels.

Educators in VR is dedicated to integrating VR, AR, and XR into education and business, hosting over 800 VR workshops, classes, and conferences annually.
