This year, we bring the biggest and most celebrated cultural celebration to Alt Space.
The West Indian Carnival began as celebration of the end of cropping season, but has now morphed into a celebration of freedom and rhythm amongst the people of Caribbean descent.
The biggest celebration takes pace in NYC during Labor Day week-end... a celebration of all the children of the diaspora (Bahamas, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, St. Kitz, Guyana, Brazil, etc) whose ancestors immigrated to the US.
We celebrate in a costume competition we call Mas Camp, while jamming to the sounds of calypso, rockas, reggae and all percussion music.
Come and party! grab your wings and masks... welcome to the bacchanal!!!
