PAST EVENT

Students from Oaks Mission High School will share their insights, hopes, and concerns about our digital figure this week. In 2019, Oaks Mission received a USD $2.9 million dollar gift from the Bill and Ida Hestor Foundation, which went to much needed repairs to the building, a college scholarship fund, and the development of VR equipment and labs with Dr. Angelina Dayton (TheVRLady) and Andy Dayton, both associated with the Oaks Indian Mission, started in 1801 to support education for the Cherokee and Oaks Indian Mission students.

This high school and school district serves a vital role in the community, and is a labor of love and commitment.

The students will share their thoughts about self-isolation, COVID-19, remote and distance learning, returning to school, and the results of their deep dive into technology with Dr. Dayton and the Oaks Mission High School's VR team and Students in VR.

NOTE: This is a Students in VR Take-Over of the Educators in VR Weekly Workshops in August.

Students in VR: Students in VR Website is a student-led and produced project from Educators in VR presenting meetups, workshops, and conferences for and with students across multiple VR platforms.

The first Students in VR conference was in May 2020, bringing together students from around the world to produce and present at the innovative conference. Students in VR will be participating in the upcoming YOUNGA student take-over of the United Nations in October.
